Female Asian Celebrities Who Died Too Young in 2009

I came across an post in a Chinese forum that listed the East Asian female celebrities who died in 2009. Each of the starlets died way before their time. Hopefully, they have now found peace wherever they are.

Listed in chronological order according to their death dates:

1. February 20, 2009 - Pan Xing Yi (潘星谊)

Pan Xing Yi was not yet very famous when she passed away. An actress from China, she filmed most of her movies and tv series from there.

On that fateful day of February 20, 2009, Pan Xing Yi was at home when she slipped and broke the fish aquarium. The glass from the tank shattered and pierced her artery, causing almost immediate death.

A notable incident occurred between Deric Wan, the famous Hong Kong celebrity and actor, and Pan Xing Yi back in January 13, 2009. In order to promote a new haristyle chain of salons of which Deric owned shares, Deric staged a pretend wedding with Pan Xing Yi as his "bride". The papparzi at that time were going crazy with speculation on his love life.

March 7, 2009 - Jang Ya Yun (27 years old)

Jang Ya Yun (张紫妍 in Chinese Characters), was a Korean Actress. She was still in the process of filming that Korean television series version of Hana Yori Dango, when she chose to commit suicide. She had hung herself at home. It appeared that she was experience alot of pressure and stress which caused her depression.

March 14, 2009 - Li Yu (33 years old)

Li Yu was known for her character of "Fang Yu" in the hit drama, "Romance in the Rain". She had died of lymphoma cancer in Beijing after being in a coma for 16 days.


April 6, 2009 - Ah Sun (阿桑) (34 years old)
Another victim of cancer, the Taiwanese singer, Ah Sun died after fighting a losing battle with breast cancer.

Sept 11, 2009 - Felicia Tang (31 years old)
Felicia Tang was a Singaporean born model who lived and worked in California. She was known for her work in Playboy TV as well as modeling.

She was murdered by her live-in boyfriend.

October 31, 2009 - Chen Lin (陈琳)  (39 years old)

Chen Lin committed suicide by jumping to her death from the 9th floor of the Dongba Olympic Garden building. It's believed that she was depressed over her relationships with her ex-husband and her current husband. Chen Lin was incredibly famous in China and her death headlined the front page of Chinese newspapers for weeks.

November, 2009 - Daul Kim (22 years old)

Daul Kim was a rising model of Korean descent who walked the runways of London, Milan, New York and Paris. She had hung herself in her Paris apartment.
